Fashion Bestiary
Wild Bodies, Human Shapes
In March 2025, the IBSM School of Fashion and Marketing held a workshop in collaboration with the Bordeaux Museum of Science and Nature. First-year students in Fashion Design and Marketing were invited to create costumes inspired by animals. To do so, they spent a morning exploring the museum's collections.
This creative encounter gave rise to a twofold interpretation: a costume inspired by the shapes, textures and behaviours of animals, and a film synopsis set in an imaginative, fantastical world. Each animal becomes a character in its own right, reborn as a fictional silhouette, woven into the fabric of a costume.
This fashion bestiary plays with a reversal of roles: the animal no longer inspires patterns — it becomes the very thread of the story.
Throughout summer 2025, seven student-designed costumes await you in the Museum’s 18th century salon.
Can you guess the creatures behind the costumes?
